From New York City to Tokyo, Nike Sportswear has once again refreshed the Reversible Team Jacket for the 2010 spring/summer collection. This time around Nike selected some great colourways to make subtle details of the design stand out. Light khaki is used as the primary colour for each jacket and is then contrasted with a vibrant black, red, yellow or green. Probably the best NSW Reversible Team Jacket I have seen so far.
On Saturday February 13th, Stones Throw and Stussy commemorate the life of hip hop legend J Dilla. To honor the prolific artist, a limited edition t-shirt will be released with Raph Rashid’s famous photo of J Dilla from the book ‘Behind the Beats’. A documentary that features the life of J Dilla in Los Angeles can also be viewed on the Stussy website. Part one is currently out now. In addition, Stussy will be holding special events at select stores across North America. Check the website for more info.
Designer Nigel Cabourn has worked in the fashion world for over fourty years and is known for his passion of vintage clothing, fabrics, and craftmanship. We can see all these elements in his new yellow ochre Cameraman Jacket which is a remarkable piece that commands attention. He uses a contrast of ecru cotton on the lower half , dry beeswax cotton for the top half including the sleeves and specially made metal clip fastenings that were used by the British & US military back in the day. Although the price point of the jacket may be quite high for most of us, it is still an absolutely stunning jacket.
TED 2010 is happening now! Feb. 9th-13th, Long Beach, California. TED brings together the world’s most fascinating speakers to share with us their great ideas, inspirations and opinions. If you can’t make it to the TED conference (like me), don’t worry because all of the talks are eventually posted on the TED website for everyone to view. I am most excited to hear from Jamie Oliver, Marian Bantjes, Dan Barber, Stewart Brand, David Byrne, James Cameron, David Rockwell, Christopher “moot” Poole, Jane McGonigal, Sarah Silverman. Plus there are always a few others that will also stimulate and capture my attention.
Spring jackets continue to make their way into stores and there is always something Nonnative has to offer. Last week the Japanese label introduced the Trooper Jacket. The lightweight jacket is equipped with a fold-away hood that can be tucked into the collar, windstopper material and comes in four different colours. It is the perfect outerwear piece for the spring. Check out all four colours after the jump and if you want to see the rest of Nonnative’s spring/summer 2010 releases they can be seen on their website.
There is no secret that Opening Ceremony is at the forefront of many fashion trends and everyone is knocking on their door wanting a piece of the action. Over the past year OC has collaborated with many inspiring designers and each one achieved enormous positive exposure around the world.
Levi’s is the latest clothing brand to team up with OC and gave us a preview of their upcoming corduroy collection which includes shirts, jackets, cutoffs, pants and a three piece suit. Our favorite of the bunch that we have seen is this casual looking teal green button up shirt with a single chest pocket. The entire collection will be released mid February. We are also excited to hear that the relationship between the two will be ongoing so you can expect to see more in the future.
Growing up I could always depend on clean white tennis trainers as my choice of casual footwear. There was never anything fancy about them and they looked good. Over the years the character never faded away from its distinct simple features always maintaining a pleasing uniform style. These days the story is the same as they continue to be a favorite of mine.
With spring around the corner Nike Sportswear recently released the Tennis Classic AC ND. Again not much has changed with the Nike tennis trainer but this time around we see a perforated swoosh along with pebbled leather being used for the exterior to give the trainer a crinkled surface for that classic look. White classic tennis trainers don’t get any better than this. More photos after the jump…
