This is Not a Polo Shirt

opening_ceremony_notapolo

These are not your average polo shirts, which is probably why Band of Outsiders ironically named their new collection, ‘This is Not a Polo Shirt’.  The fabric of the polo shirts are like no other as it was made with A-Girls in Wakayama, Japan.  Not many companies in the world can make an extremely thin and light quality fabric that will withstand numerous washes while also holding its shape.  Pretty impressive if you ask me.  The best part is the polo shirts come in several different designs and colors.  Look out as they will be released throughout the month of January 2010.  You can see some of our favorites after the jump.

Nonnative Mountaineer Hooded Parka

nonnative_mountaineer_parka

Many Japanese labels are very clever when it comes to fashion.  Nonnative is one that  continues to impress us with just about everything they design, like the Mountaineer Hooded Parka.  The grey or navy pinstripe jacket is perfect for winters out on the ski hill.  The wool lining and wind resistant shell will keep anyone protected from the blistering cold.

Nixon Headphones

nixon_headphones

I have been using white iPod ear buds for way too long now and in need of new ones.  Although ear buds are convenient in size, I much prefer bigger headphones that are durable and won’t break on me after six months.  Known for their hip and stylish watches, Nixon last year decided to branch out with a range of sleek headphones.  By just looking at the extremely sexy designs, these could be considered the Mercedes Benz of everyday headphones but without the expensive price tag.  From the reviews it’s good to hear that they also produce decent sound.  Now all they have to do is stay together, and I’ll be happy.

Burberry Art of the Trench

Times are definitely changing as many companies are beginning to cast aside old marketing trends for new ones.  Burberry recently launched Artofthetrench.com a new online social networking campaign that celebrates their iconic trench coat with an attempt to make a connection with younger generations.  The website features a collection of images submitted by people around the globe wearing different designs of the trench coat along side portraits commissioned by street fashion photographer Scott Schuman.  Visitors browsing can also vote, comment or link their friends to photographs.  Check out the interview with The Satorialist himself, Scott Schuman.

Stevie Wonder ‘Superstition’

I saw this video last weekend and was blown away.  Just everything from the fashion, the amazing dance moves, and a young Stevie Wonder singing ‘Superstition’ on ‘Soul Train’ makes this one of my all time favorites.  I love the fact that a great song and video like this one from the 1970’s can continue to connect with so many generations.  Heck I’m sure it will continue playing and keep people dancing for lifetimes.  I know I will.
